Blazing Hot Sun
Don’t go to Las Vegas Motor Speedway without sunscreen.
Don’t let anyone tell you it’s only February, it’s not that warm, or any other excuse. Don’t go to Las Vegas Motor Speedway without sunscreen. For two weeks now, I’ve been a lobster, and I’m finally returning to a normal shade of pink on my arms, chest, and forehead. On the bright side, I found a sunburn remedy that actually works: take a medium warm bath with about two cups of baking soda thrown in.  Keep resubmerging yourself on and off, and a lot of the sting will be gone. In the meantime, don’t go to Las Vegas Motor Speedway without sunscreen.

Now that I’m finally recovered from our quickie vacation, here are few goodies I’ve enjoyed that don’t require first aid:

Check out Emily’s classic Getting Back to Basics post at Remodeling This Life. I think a lot of On Simplicity readers can really identify with the idea that getting back to basics is a great thing.

Frugal Dad kicks up an interesting discussion with A Frugal Diet, or a Frugal Lifestyle. The idea that some things I do may be more akin to a diet (temporary) than a lifestyle (long-lasting) definitely got me thinking.  Coupons are definitely a frugal diet item with me; I use them occasionally, but not systematically.  You might also like Simplify Your Personal Finance Life—a solid primer on the subject.

My Dollar Plan had a great, back-to-basics piece this week with Personal Finance A to Z. There’s even a legitimate entry for “X.” Woo-hoo! There’s a lot of great, core knowledge here in a fun, easy to digest format.
