Six Months of Simplicity!

On Simplicity has reached its six-month anniversary, and I’m both proud and exhausted. It’s been much more work than I ever anticipated, and it’s all been worth it. The huge bottom line is you. The community that’s developed has blown me away! And so, since the success of On Simplicity has truly been a community effort, I’m here to offer up a taste of what’s to come and get any feedback you may have.
First, I’ve really considered the first half a year as an incubation period. Tinkering with posting schedules, writing methods, and topic areas have been the focus. Some very cool, unplanned things have emerged, like Wednesday’s Three Things community posts. (I love reading the responses; you have no idea how much!). On the other hand, some things I thought I would accomplish didn’t happen. C’est la vie.
At the end of the day, interacting with you has dramatically improved life for me. I’ve gained a wider perspective, not to mention some incredibly helpful tips and ideas. Plus, as a collective group, On Simplicity readers make me smile on a daily basis, and that’s no small deal to me. So thank you: for reading, for commenting, for sharing or stumbling or simply smiling as you read something I wrote. It means a great deal to me. And keep reading! In Frank’s words, “The best is yet to come.”
On to the the updates!
I’ll be switching over to a new theme. I was lucky enough to win a customized version of Blogsessive’s flagship theme, and that will be debuting soon. I’ve always had the intention to changing over to a customized theme when the time was right, and that time seems to be now. If you’re a blogger and you haven’t had a chance to check out Blogsessive, I highly recommend it; The Ten Commandments of Blogging and Blogging Myths Busted are great examples of why.
Also, I’ll be adding in some advertising. (That sound you hear? It’s my husband sighing, “Finally!” :)) I’m trying to keep it minimal, since keeping the site looking, well, simple, is very important to me. If there’s ever an ad that’s find offensive or inappropriate, feel free to let me know so that I can avoid it. If you have any feedback on any of the updates you’ll be seeing, feel free to drop me a line. I can’t promise I’ll change anything, but I am interested in hearing what you have to say.
That’s it for now! Have a fantastic day and know that I appreciate your readership more than I can express.

Sara, congratulations on reaching 6 months and over 1,000 readers! I’ve just started my own blog and can identify with it being more work than I expected - mainly figuring out the technical aspects of blogging. Just like you, I find it all worth it because it allows us to do what we love doing.
Keep up the great work. If that is your desk by the window in the photo, then I envy you! It looks like a great place to churn out all your posts.

Six months, eh? By the quality of posts and number of readers you have, I would have bet that this blog was at least a year or a year and a half old. Great work!
I am uber excited to see your new theme! Also, what kind of advertising methods are you going to use? AdSense? Affiliate marketing? Good luck with that endeavor.
I look forward to the future of On Simplicity.

Ok Sara, seriously…is that your desk??? Cuz if it is, it’s TOTALLY cleaner than mine right now!
But really, CONGRATULATIONS on your six month anniversary! (It feels like a lot longer than six months huh?) I think that any change you make is cool because in the end, it’s still you (still Sara at On Simplicity and that’s what makes it cool. So I say go for it).
