Weekly Links: Blog Day Edition
Confession: I forgot about Blog Day. I meant to spread around the sweet, linky karma, but here’s the truth: I was too busy trying to do nothing (somewhat unsuccessfully). So for this week’s links, I wanted to show off some blogs that haven’t been highlighted before, along with some you may know.
PluginID discusses The Path of Identity. I strongly identified with the Expanded Identity phase, otherwise known as the high school and college years for me. You might also want to check out the list of personal development blogs. The site uses an automated script to pull the most popular blogs, so it’s a cool list to refer when you’re looking for new info or voices. (And I’m proud to be on it, of course!)
Writer Dad discusses discovering his bizarro companion in Writer Dad Through the Looking Glass. Anyone who describes their early blogging efforts as “much like an idiot rambling inside the corridors of an empty cave” and then comes out with such beautifully crafted posts is worth a read.
Al at 7P Productions wins the award for Most Creative Post of the week for The Criminally Minded Approach for Achieving Goals. Love love love this one!
On that same note, watch Avani Mehti spin toilet humor into deep meaning with How a Fart Can Make You Grow Spiritually.
LivSimpl has a fantastically funny piece on Lessons Learned from Chick Flicks. I loved the approach, and the underlying point was pretty valuable as well.
From The Life Skills Network:
SimpleMom has a new e-book out, titled Spring Cleaning for Normal People: The Simple Mom Guide to a Decluttered Home (Any Time of Year). It’s about time that cleaning guides were published for real folks, so I’m very excited about this! She covers motivation and lack of time (my two biggest problems) and offers a realistic 10-step process. (Incidentally, I also really enjoyed A Declutterer’s Guide to Storing Photos from earlier this week; very useful read.
The Wisdom Journal posted 5 Steps to Supreme Productivity, while Frugal Dad showed us How to Install a Programmable Thermostat (this one is a great way to simplify your life while being frugal and energy efficient).
Mark and Angel gave us 70 Things to Do Before Having Children (I’m interested in #64 right now…) while My Super-Charged Life responded with 70 Great Things About Having Children. What a cool exchange!
Plus, My Dollar Plan discussed My New Retirement Lifestyle Cash Flow. Rarely do personal finance bloggers talk about their own finances with such candor, so this was intriguing.
I almost forgot about one of my favorite posts of the week: The Idea of Having, over at Get Rich Slowly. If you find yourself with a lot of stuff you’ve “decluttered” but can’t seem to actually part with (I’m pointing the finger at myself here), this is for you.
Phew! That was a lot of good stuff for one week! Have fun reading and have a wonderful week!

Hi Sara – I’m writing this comment with a smile on my face. Thanks for the link luv, and thanks a whole bunch for the creativity award! It was great fun to write that post about being criminally-minded so it’s a bonus to see that it was also a fun read.
I did not even know about Blog Day! It’s a great idea, but it might have been overlooked by people because of Labor Day. Hope I don’t miss it the next time it comes around (and hope it doesn’t fall on a holiday weekend, either!).

A great list! I would recommend the GRS, Marc and Angel, and Writer Dad posts. They teach and entertain, basically what all good blog posts do when they are at their best.

Thanks, Barbara! It’s amazing how much time these posts can take, but it’s worth it if other folks are using the links and finding worthwhile information!
