From a safe distance, few things are more invigorating than watching a storm. We spent last night enjoying the sound, smell, sights, and even the taste of a wet lightning storm. It was wonderful to stop everything else and immerse ourselves in something entirely unrelated to productivity or work. So, am I at one with nature now? Probably not, considering my massive freak-out when a quite large spider crawled up my back yesterday… Baby steps, right? On with the links!

Emily at Remodeling This Life talks about how to Play Your Own Game. It’s a personal story about the challenges and rewards of picking your path in life. It certainly resonated with me, and it’s a good read for anyone who’s feeling a conflict between what they want to do and what others expect of them.

Henrik at The Positivity Blog posted How to Keep Yourself on Track: 5 Helpful Questions. He lists five questions you can use to change your outlook when negativity arises. They’re quick, easy to understand, and relevant in a variety of situations. I especially love the last two: “Am I Taking This Too Seriously?” and “Will This Matter Five Years From Now?”

J.D. at Get Rich Slowly asks, Can Saving Prepare Us for the Oncoming Recession? This post looks at current views on the economy (including a key quote from Warren Buffet) with a focus on how savings plays into the actual economic impact on individuals. This post isn’t designed to provide all the answers, but it sure is asking all the right questions.

Nora Dunn at Wise Bread hits on the core essence of Quality of Life. This is a very cool look at a non-Western lifestyle. Her subject, Joe, provides some perspective on success and being satisfied, showing that sometimes the trappings of success come at too high a cost. Warning: this post will make you want to drop out and carve spoons.

Barbara at Blogging Without a Blog posts about how to Be Inspired by Nothing. It’s a short post, but it hints the core of simplicity: that when we get down to nothing, we’re free to create anything.

Finally, Marelisa at the Abundance Blog inspires us all to consider Awakening the Warrior. Marelisa’s post offers the why and how of calling up your inner warrior. She draws from lots of sources, including Jung and Sun-Tzu, but her points are all down-to-earth and grounded in real-world tactics. For me, it was just right of combination of inspiration and concrete how-to.
